Bio

Tamara Heimbrock studied opera directing at Berlin’s “Hanns Eisler”. During her studies she developed numerous productions that were shown in several Berlin locations, among them HAU2 and WABE.
Masterclasses with Vera Nemirova, Sebastian Baumgarten, Katharina Wagner, David Hermann, Karoline Gruber, Andreas Homoki, Jürgen Fimm, Barrie Kosky, Stefan Herheim, Jossi Wieler and Hans Neuenfels round out her education.
With “It Will Be Rain Tonight”, an original work commissioned for Deutsche Oper Berlin’s Tischlerei, she presented her degree.
Following her studies, she worked as an Assistant and Staff Director for Komische Oper Berlin and Stadttheater Aachen, where she collaborated with Barrie Kosky, Benedict Andrews, Stefan Huber, Damiano Michieletto and Joan Anton Rechi.
In the fall of 2016 she revived Benedict Andrews’ production of “The Fiery Angel” at Opéra de Lyon and Antú Romero Nunes’ “The Vampyr” at Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Her recent work includes “Orphée et Eurydice” by Gluck, “La Fedeltà Premiata” by Haydn and “The Cunning Little Vixen” by Janáček for Theater Aachen, “Die Blume von Hawaii” by Abraham for Theater für Niedersachen.
In Berlin she collaborated with Glen Sheppard for the Performances “A L E X A N D R I A a lower east side opera” and “Ausser sich / Salome”. In 2020 she joined Damiano Michieletto for his new production of “Salome” at Teatro alla Scala di Milano.
For the OTHMAR SCHOECK FESTIVAL 2020 she developed heimatLOS, a performance focussing on the work of female artists of various genres and eras.
